Business.phillyonrails.org would serve 2 purposes
To demonstrate that there are a lot of Rails shops in Philly.
this helps diminish the "but what if you get hit by a bus" factor
shows that rails is the future as elite shops are already using it
makes philly more attractive place to source development work to
To increase business and refer jobs to philly dev shops.
This is good for all of us.
A small referral fee ( a couple percent or up to a few hundred dollars) could be collected and put towards PhillyOnRails goodness, like advertising the group or buying a projector for pubnites, or just server costs.
The thing with business.phillyonrails.org is that it will primarily be a sales site, which is why it should be seperate from the wiki.
The next action on this is for the list to discuss if this is a good idea, and if so..
What will it take to get a listing in business.phillyonrails.org
We will need to figure out who is going to be responsible for what
I will volunteer to do the IA
We will then need a visual design
Ongoing maintenance (maybe the content can be automatically pulled from the wiki? that'd make this obsolete)
Anyone can edit this wiki which makes it a poor marketing source, what about having rails companies set up restful services for their portfolio information
